Ok, so I entered a beauty contest. Why? Because I wanted people to see that people in these contests are not idiot bimbos with no brain. That we actually are intelligent, independent women.
Unfortunately this statement only applied to a small handful of the 32 contestants. Most of them were morons. Sorry to say it, but it's true. And the most idiotic, most pleasant, and most bitchy were those that got furthest. Thankfully the girl who won was a total sweetheart, who really did deserve it, but the next 4 were just bitches obsessed with hair and make-up.
The website for this competition claims that marks are awarded in the following way: Posture – 5 Elegance – 5 Stage Presence – 5 Confidence – 10 Interview – 10 Pre-Judging - 10 Overall Appearance – 10
The questions I was asked in my prejudging were: 1) Have you enjoyed to day and 2) How did you find out about the contest.
Marketing and publicity questions perhaps? Certainly not genuine questions to gage a sense of what sort of person you are or how intelligent you appear to be.
The notion that these people care about your personality isn't as laughable as it might seem. They do care. They want someone who is capable, but not too intelligent. Pretty, but not stunning or beautiful. Has opinions but either not her own or has an unwillingness to express them. Basically, someone they can mould who won't give them too much stick from their critics. In short, not a real woman.
